As someone who has traveled extensively, my best trips include fun and loving companions, a non-rushed pace, a safe and pleasant place to eat and sleep at the beginning and end of each day, plenty of fresh air and exercise, and trustworthy maps. It is the same for cancer treatment. Surgery, although a serious business, seems dwarfed by the life-saving treatments that follow. For, they come with a price: a varying degree and array of side effects. Specialists — radiologist, pathologist, surgeon, radiation oncologist, oncologist — oversee different stages of treatment. From Paris, Walking With No Destination in Mind
If you read last week’s post “Trying Too Hard To Be Lovable? Stop” the title of this post will have deeper meaning. While in Paris recently, we made two discoveries while “walking with no destination in mind.” I think some of our most lasting trip memories come about when we don’t have a set plan and end up at an unexpected destination. I wonder if it’s because the memory is stronger when our senses are more awake when we are surprised by a sight, smell, breeze, sound, or taste. Travel Opens & Broadens Hearts, Minds & Eyes
During our two-year home school adventure we had the opportunity to take a few trips. What we discovered and learned on these trips we integrated into our lessons when we arrived home. One of our biggest adventures took us to Boston where after walking across the cobblestones of American history, we took advantage of being on the east coast to fly to England where we journeyed by rail to York (where both Romans and Vikings lived).
